a large group of the earlier people 39 And a numerous company from among the last. 40 As for the people on the left hand, how miserable they will be! 41 (They will be) in the midst of a Fierce Blast of Fire and in Boiling Water, 42 and the shadow of a smoking blaze 43 Neither cool nor beneficial. 44 They had lived in luxury before this 45 and persisted in the Great Sin, 46 And they used to say: What! when we die and have become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised? 47 Will our ancient forefathers be resurrected too? 48 Say, [O Muhammad], "Indeed, the former and the later peoples 49 "All will surely be gathered together for appointed Meeting of a known Day. 50 Then shall you, O you who err and call it a lie! 51 Will eat of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 And shall fill therewith your bellies. 53 And shall be drinkers thereon of boiling water. 54 "So you will drink (that) like thirsty camels!" 55 That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense. 56 It is We who have created you. Why then did you not testify to the Truth? 57 Have you considered the seed? 58 Is it you that create it or are We the creators? 59 It was We who decreed death among you. We will not be surpassed 60 from replacing you by others like yourselves or changing your forms and re-creating you in forms that you know nothing of. 61 And assuredly ye have fully known the first production wherefore heed ye not? 62 Ponder upon the soil you till, 63 Is it you or We Who make them grow? 64 Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry powder, and ye would be left in wonderment, 65 (And say:) "We have fallen into debt; 66 "Indeed are we shut out (of the fruits of our labour)" 67 See ye the water which ye drink? 68 Is it you that send it down from the clouds or We? 69 If We willed, We verily could make it salt (and undrinkable), why then do you not give thanks (to Allah)? 70 Have ye observed the fire which ye strike out; 71 Is it you who made the tree thereof to grow, or are We the Grower? 72 We Ourselves made it for a reminder, and a boon to the desert-dwellers. 73 Then, exalt the Name of your Lord, the Great. 74

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
