A multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the first generation (who embraced Islam). 39 and many from the later generations. 40 And the fellows on the left hand; how miserable shall the fellows on the left hand be! 41 They will be in the midst of scorching wind and boiling water, 42 And in the shadow of a burning smoke. 43 which will neither be cool nor soothing. 44 Indeed they were, before that, indulging in affluence, 45 And used to persist in the awful sin. 46 And they used to say: What! when we die and have become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised? 47 and perhaps, too, our forebears of old?" 48 Tell them, (O Prophet): “The earlier ones and the later ones 49 shall all be brought together on an appointed Day. 50 Then you, you misguided ones, who deny the truth, 51 Shall surely eat of the tree of Az-Zqqum. 52 And fill (your) bellies with it; 53 Then drink over it of boiling water; 54 drinking it as thirsty camels do.” 55 This will be their welcome on the Day of Judgment. 56 We have created you: why then do you not accept the truth? 57 Then tell Me (about) the human semen that you emit. 58 Do you create a child out of it, or are We its creators? 59 We mete out death among you, and We are not to be outrun, 60 In order that We may bring in your place the likes of you and make you grow into what you know not. 61 And [since] you are indeed aware of the [miracle of your] coming into being in the first instance - why, then, do you not bethink yourselves [of Us]? 62 And have you seen that [seed] which you sow? 63 Is it ye that cause it to grow, or are We the Cause? 64 We could turn it, if We pleased, into straw; then you would rue the day, 65 Verily we are undone. 66 nay; we have been undone!” 67 Have you considered the water you drink? 68 Is it ye who shed it from the raincloud, or are We the Shedder? 69 We could make it brackish, if We pleased; so why do you not acknowledge thanks? 70 Consider the fire that you strike (and get by friction). 71 Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer? 72 We have made it a reminder and an advantage for the wayfarers of the desert. 73 Extol, then, the limitless glory of thy Sustainer's mighty name! 74
