▼ 56 The Inevitable
Al-Waaqe'ah 2 of 3
A multitude from the ancients. 39 And a numerous company from among the last. 40 And the fellows on the left hand; how miserable shall the fellows on the left hand be! 41 mid burning winds and boiling waters 42 And shadow of black smoke, 43 Which is neither cool nor is for respect. 44 Lo! heretofore they were effete with luxury 45 And used to persist in the awful sin. 46 ever saying, 'What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up? 47 Or our fathers of yore? 48 Say, [O Muhammad], "Indeed, the former and the later peoples 49 shall be gathered together to the appointed time on a known Day' 50 Then shall you, O you who err and call it a lie! 51 Ye verily will eat of a tree called Zaqqum 52 And will fill your bellies therewith; 53 and on top of this you will drink boiling water 54 Drinking even as the camel drinketh. 55 Such will be their welcome on the Day of Judgement. 56 We! it is We Who created you: wherefore confess ye not? 57 Behold! that which ye emit. 58 Is it you that create it or are We the creators? 59 We mete out death among you, and We are not to be outrun, 60 that We may exchange the likes of you, and make you to grow again in a fashion you know not. 61 And indeed, you have already known the first form of creation (i.e. the creation of Adam), why then do you not remember or take heed? 62 Have you considered the soil you till? 63 Cause it ye to grow, or are We the Grower? 64 Had We wanted, We could have crushed it to bits and you would have been left to lament, 65 (Saying): "We are indeed Mughramun (i.e. ruined or lost the money without any profit, or punished by the loss of all that we spend for cultivation, etc.)! [See Tafsir Al-Qurtubi, Vol. 17, Page 219] 66 nay; we have been undone!” 67 And have you seen the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who brought it down from the clouds or is it We Who brought it down? 69 [It comes down sweet - but] were it Our will, We could make it burningly salty and bitter: why, then, do you not give thanks [unto Us]? 70 Tell Me! The fire which you kindle, 71 Is it you who grew its tree, or is it We Who create? 72 We, even We, appointed it a memorial and a comfort for the dwellers in the wilderness. 73 (Muhammad), glorify your Lord, the Great One. 74

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
