A multitude of those of old 39 And a multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the later times (generations). 40 And those on the left hand: What of those on the left hand? 41 Amidst scorching wind and scalding water. 42 And in the shades of Black Smoke: 43 (That shadow) neither cool, nor (even) good, 44 and before that they lived at ease, 45 And were stubborn upon the great sin (of disbelief). 46 They used to say: “What! Once we are dead and are reduced to dust and bones, shall we still be raised to a new life from the dead? 47 and perhaps, too, our forebears of old?" 48 Tell them, (O Prophet): “The earlier ones and the later ones 49 will indeed be gathered together at a fixed time on an appointed Day. 50 Then you erring ones, you that cried lies, 51 Will be eating from trees of zaqqum 52 You shall fill your bellies with it, 53 and on top of this you will drink boiling water 54 like a thirsty camel". 55 This is their reception on the Day of Justice. 56 It is We Who created you, so why do you not accept the truth? 57 Did you ever consider the sperm that you emit? 58 Did you create it or was it We who created it? 59 We have destined death for you and no one can challenge Us 60 that We will change you and cause you to grow again in a way you do not know. 61 You have certainly known the first creation. Why, then, do you not take heed? 62 Have you considered the seeds you till? 63 Is it ye who foster it, or are We the Fosterer? 64 Did We will, We would make it broken orts, and you would remain bitterly jesting -- 65 'We are debt-loaded; 66 Nay, but we are deprived! 67 Have you considered the water that you drink? 68 Is it ye who shed it from the raincloud, or are We the Shedder? 69 If We willed, surely We would make it brackish. Wherefore give ye not thanks? 70 Behold! the fire which ye strike out: 71 Is it ye who grow the tree which feeds the fire, or do We grow it? 72 We Ourselves made it for a reminder, and a boon to the desert-dwellers. 73 So glorify the name of your Lord, the Supreme. 74
