He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 when the blind came to him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and fearfully, 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 exalted and purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
True are the words of God the Almighty.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
