A throng of the ancients 39 and a good many of later times. 40 The Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 41 In scorching wind and boiling hot water. 42 and a shade of thick, pitch-black smoke, 43 (That shadow) neither cool, nor (even) good, 44 Lo! heretofore they were effete with luxury 45 and persisted in the Great Sin, 46 and would say: "What! After we have died and become mere dust and bones, shall we, forsooth, be raised from the dead? 47 Will our ancient forefathers be resurrected too? 48 (Muhammad), say, "All the ancient and later generations 49 shall all be brought together on an appointed Day. 50 Then shall you, O you who err and call it a lie! 51 shall eat the fruit of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 You shall fill your bellies with it, 53 "And drink Boiling Water on top of it: 54 And drink as drinks the thirsty camel. 55 Such will be their welcome on the Day of Judgement. 56 We have created you: why then do you not accept the truth? 57 Have you seen sperm? 58 Is it you that create it or are We the creators? 59 We have incorporated death in your constitution, and We shall not be hindered 60 from replacing you by others like yourselves or changing your forms and re-creating you in forms that you know nothing of. 61 And [since] you are indeed aware of the [miracle of your] coming into being in the first instance - why, then, do you not bethink yourselves [of Us]? 62 Have you considered the seeds you till? 63 Is it ye that cause it to grow, or are We the Cause? 64 Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry pieces, and you would be regretful (or left in wonderment). 65 "We are ruined, 66 “In fact, we were unfortunate!” 67 Have you considered the water which you drink? 68 Is it you that send it down from the clouds, or are We the senders? 69 If We pleased, We would have made it salty; why do you not then give thanks? 70 Behold! the fire which ye strike out: 71 Did you make its tree grow or was it We Who made it grow? 72 We! it is We Who made it a reminder and a provision unto the campers. 73 So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great. 74

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
