The Column (Al-Suff)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Whatever is in the heavens and on earth, let it declare the Praises and Glory of Allah: for He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise. 1 O you who believe, wherefore do you say what you do not? 2 It is most loathsome in the sight of Allah that you should profess what you do not practise. 3 Verily, Allah loves those who fight in His Cause in rows (ranks) as if they were a solid structure. 4 And when Moses said to his people, 'O my people, why do you hurt me, though you know I am the Messenger of God to you?' When they swerved, God caused their hearts to swerve; and God. guides never the people of the ungodly. 5 And when Jesus son of Mary said: O Children of Israel! Lo! I am the messenger of Allah unto you, confirming that which was (revealed) before me in the Torah, and bringing good tidings of a messenger who cometh after me, whose name is the Praised One. Yet when he hath come unto them with clear proofs, they say: This is mere magic. 6 And who doeth greater wrong than he who inventeth a lie against Allah when he is summoned unto Al-Islam? And Allah guideth not wrongdoing folk. 7 They seek to extinguish Allah's light (by blowing) with their mouths, but Allah shall spread His light in all its fullness, howsoever the unbelievers may abhor this. 8 He it is Who hath sent His apostle with the guidance and the true religion, that He may make it triumph over all religion, even though averse may be the associaters. 9
