The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great event, 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
