Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion, and He is Able to do all things. 1 Who hath created life and death that He may try you which of you is best in conduct; and He is the Mighty, the Forgiving, 2 [And] who created seven heavens in layers. You do not see in the creation of the Most Merciful any inconsistency. So return [your] vision [to the sky]; do you see any breaks? 3 Turn your eyes again and again. Your gaze turns back dazed and tired. 4 And indeed We have beautified the lower heaven with lamps, and have made them weapons against the devils, and have kept prepared for them the punishment of the blazing fire. 5 The chastisement of Hell awaits those who disbelieve in their Lord. What a wretched destination! 6 When they are cast into it, they will hear its roaring as it boils up, 7 Almost bursting for fury. Whenever a group is cast into it, its keeper shall ask them: Did there not come to you a warner? 8 They will reply: "Yea, a warner did indeed come unto us, but we gave him the lie and said, 'Never has God sent down anything [by way of revelation]! You [self-styled warners] are but lost in a great delusion!"' 9 They will say, "If we had only listened or understood, we should not now be among the inmates of Hell," 10 So they confess their sins. Curse the inhabitants of the Blaze! 11 Those who fear their Lord in secret will receive forgiveness and a great reward. 12 Whether you speak in secret or aloud, He knows what is in every heart. 13 Does He who created not know, while He is the Subtle, the Acquainted? 14
