Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ THE CONCRETE REALITY. 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? 3 Thamood and Ad cried lies to the Clatterer. 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 and the 'Ad were destroyed by a furious wind 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 Then seest thou any of them left surviving? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 when the earth with all its mountains is lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, 15 The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. 16 The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 That will be the Day when you shall be brought forth (before Allah) and no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! 20 His shall be a pleasing life 21 in a lofty garden, 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 "Eat ye and drink ye, with full satisfaction; because of the (good) that ye sent before you, in the days that are gone!" 24 But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record 25 and not known my reckoning! 26 How I wish my death had ended all. 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 and our belief has destroyed us". 29 (A command will be issued): “Seize him and shackle him, 30 and then let him enter Hell. 31 “Then bind him inside a chain which is seventy arm-lengths.” 32 He did not believe in God the supreme, 33 Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 therefore he today has not here one loyal friend, 35 Nor any food except refuse, 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
