Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Reality! 1 And what is that indubitable event? 2 And what will make you realize what the Inevitable Hour is? 3 The people of Thamud and Ad denied the Day of Judgment. 4 The Thamuds were destroyed by a violent blast of sound. 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 Then came the Pharaoh, and those before him whose habitations were overthrown while they were committing crimes. 9 And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. 10 Verily We! when the water rose, We bare you upon the traversing ark. 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, 15 and heaven shall be split, for upon that day it shall be very frail, 16 And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 In a lofty Garden – 22 with clusters of fruit within easy reach. 23 We shall say to him, "Eat and drink joyfully as a reward for the good deeds you did in days gone by." 24 But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record 25 and not known my reckoning! 26 I wish death had put an end to me. 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 and my authority has been destroyed' 29 It will be said, “Seize him, and shackle him.” 30 Then in the Scorch roast him 31 And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 “So he does not have any friend here this day.” 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 “Which none except the guilty shall eat.” 37
