Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Sure Reality! 1 What is the Inevitable? 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 Thamood and Ad cried lies to the Clatterer. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. 6 which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. 7 Can you see any remnant of them now? 8 And Fir'awn and those before him and the overturned cities committed sin. 9 They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 so that We might make it a reminder for you and so that attentive ears might retain it. 12 With the first blast of sound from the trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be borne and the twain shall be crushed with a single crash. 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 and heaven shall be split, for upon that day it shall be very frail, 16 The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! 19 I was certain I'll be given my account." 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 In a Garden on high, 22 The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. 23 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of what you did in days long passed' 24 But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! 25 “And had never come to know my account!” 26 Would it had been the end! 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 and my authority has vanished.” 29 Lay hold of him and chain him; 30 Then into Hellfire drive him. 31 “Then bind him inside a chain which is seventy arm-lengths.” 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 and he never urged the feeding of the needy; 34 "So no friend hath he here this Day. 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
