Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Surely We sent Nuh to his people, saying: Warn your people before there come upon them a painful chastisement. 1 Noah said: “My people, I have certainly been sent as a clear warner to you, 2 That you should serve Allah and be careful of (your duty to) Him and obey me: 3 That He may forgive you somewhat of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Lo! the term of Allah, when it cometh, cannot be delayed, if ye but knew. 4 He said: O my Lord! surely I have called my people by night and by day! 5 But my invitation increased them not except in flight. 6 "And every time I have called to them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they have (only) thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance. 7 "And behold I called unto them openly; 8 Then verily I spake unto them openly and secretly. I also addressed them. 9 And I said: ask forgiveness of your Lord; verily He is ever Most Forgiving. 10 ‘He will send down abundant rain for you from the sky.’ 11 and will aid you with worldly goods and children, and will bestow upon you gardens, and bestow upon you running waters. 12 What aileth you that ye expect not in Allah majesty! 13 ‘Whereas it is He Who created you in different stages?’ 14 Do you not see how God has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 and made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp, 16 how God has produced you from the earth and caused you to grow, 17 Then He will return you into it and extract you [another] extraction. 18 how God has spread the earth out for you 19 So that you may walk upon its spacious paths.' 20
