Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
WE SENT NOAH to his people to warn them before the painful punishment came upon them. 1 He said: "O my people, I warn you clearly 2 “That you must worship Allah and fear Him, and obey me.” 3 He will forgive your sins and will grant you respite till an appointed time. When the time appointed by God arrives, it cannot be postponed, if you only knew." 4 He said: "O Lord, I called my people night and day, 5 but the more I called, the farther they fled. 6 And behold, whenever I called unto them with a view to Thy granting them forgiveness, they put their fingers into their ears, and wrapped themselves up in their garments [of sin]; and grew obstinate, and became [yet more] arrogant in their false pride. 7 "And behold I called unto them openly; 8 And declared to them in public and in private, 9 Then I said, "Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Surely He is the most forgiving. 10 He will send down abundant rain from the sky for you, 11 And will help you with wealth and sons, and will assign unto you Gardens and will assign unto you rivers. 12 ‘What is the matter with you, that you do not desire honour from Allah?’ 13 And indeed He has created you through various grades: 14 "Have you not seen that God has created the seven heavens one above the other 15 ‘And in them, has illuminated the moon, and made the sun a lamp?’ 16 Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth, 17 Then He will return you into it and extract you [another] extraction. 18 And Allah has made for you the earth a wide expanse, 19 That you may follow therein roads of passage.' " 20
