Noah (Nooh)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
We sent Noah to his nation, saying: 'Give warning to your nation before a painful punishment overtakes them' 1 He said: "O my people, I warn you clearly 2 That you should worship God and fear Him, and follow me 3 He will forgive you your sins, and will defer you to an appointed term. Verily the term of Allah when it cometh shall not be deferred, if ye but knew. 4 He said: My Lord! Lo! I have called unto my people night and day 5 but my calling has only increased them in flight. 6 And every time I called them that You may forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, and covered themselves with their garments, and became wayward, and behaved with downright insolence. 7 Then verily I have called unto them publicly 8 And declared to them in public and in private, 9 and I said: "'Ask your Sustainer to forgive you your sins - for, verily, He is all-forgiving! 10 and He will loose heaven upon you in torrents 11 and will succour you with wealth and sons, and will appoint for you gardens, and will appoint for you rivers. 12 What is amiss with you that you do not look forward to the majesty of Allah 13 He has created you by stages! 14 Behold ye not in what wise Allah hath created seven heavens in storeys. 15 "'And made the moon a light in their midst, and made the sun as a (Glorious) Lamp? 16 And Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth so wondrously, 17 "'And in the End He will return you into the (earth), and raise you forth (again at the Resurrection)? 18 Allah has made the earth spread out for you 19 so that you might walk thereon on spacious paths.'" 20
