Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
We sent Noah to his nation, saying: 'Give warning to your nation before a painful punishment overtakes them' 1 He said, "O my people, indeed I am to you a clear warner, 2 That you should worship God and fear Him, and follow me 3 He will forgive your sins and will grant you respite till an appointed time. When the time appointed by God arrives, it cannot be postponed, if you only knew." 4 He said: O my Lord! surely I have called my people by night and by day! 5 but my calling has only increased them in flight. 6 And lo! whenever I call unto them that Thou mayst pardon them they thrust their fingers in their ears and cover themselves with their garments and persist (in their refusal) and magnify themselves in pride. 7 Then indeed I called them openly; 8 Then surely I spoke to them in public and I spoke to them in secret: 9 I said to them: “Ask forgiveness from your Lord; surely He is Most Forgiving. 10 "'He will send rain to you in abundance; 11 And will help you with wealth and sons, and will assign unto you Gardens and will assign unto you rivers. 12 What aileth you that ye expect not in Allah majesty! 13 when He has created you through different stages of existence? 14 Have you not seen how Allah created the seven heavens one above the other, 15 and placed therein the moon as a light and the sun as a torch. 16 ‘And it is Allah Who made you grow like vegetation from the earth.’ 17 Afterwards He will return you into it (the earth), and bring you forth (again on the Day of Resurrection)? 18 Allah has made the earth a wide expanse for you 19 That you may go along therein in wide paths. 20
