Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Surely We sent Nuh to his people, saying: Warn your people before there come upon them a painful chastisement. 1 He said: O my people! Lo! I am a plain warner unto you 2 (Bidding you): Serve Allah and keep your duty unto Him and obey me, 3 He will forgive you some of your faults and grant you a delay to an appointed term; surely the term of Allah when it comes is not postponed; did you but know! 4 He said, "My Lord! I have called my people night and day 5 "But my call only increases (their) flight (from the Right). 6 And every time I called them that You may forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, and covered themselves with their garments, and became wayward, and behaved with downright insolence. 7 "And behold I called unto them openly; 8 And declared to them in public and in private, 9 And said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver. 10 He will send you abundant 11 and will aid you with worldly goods and children, and will bestow upon you gardens, and bestow upon you running waters. 12 ‘What is the matter with you, that you do not desire honour from Allah?’ 13 "'Seeing that it is He that has created you in diverse stages? 14 Do you not consider how Allah has created seven heavens in layers 15 And made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp? 16 And Allah has made you grow out of the earth as a growth: 17 how He will then return you to it and bring you forth again, 18 ‘And it is Allah Who made the earth a bed for you.’ 19 That you may go along therein in wide paths. 20
