In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O you wrapped in garments (i.e. Prophet Muhammad SAW)! 1 Stand up in Prayer by night, all but a small part of it; 2 half of it, or reduce it a little; 3 Or increase thereto. And intone the Qur'an with measured intonations. 4 Indeed, We will cast upon you a heavy word. 5 Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence [of heart and tongue] and more suitable for words. 6 Verily, there is for you by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties, 7 But [whether by night or by day,] remember thy Sustainer's name, and devote thyself unto Him with utter devotion. 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West; there is no god but He. So take Him alone for your Guardian, 9 And have patience with what they say, and leave them with noble (dignity). 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the deniers, who live a life of comfort, and bear with them a little longer. 11 We have fetters (for them) and a blazing fire, 12 And a food that chokes, and a painful torment. 13 On the day the earth and mountains will rock violently, and the mountains turn to a heap of poured-out sand. 14 Surely We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We had sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 but Pharaoh rebelled against the Messenger, so We seized him remorselessly. 16 If therefore you disbelieve, how will you guard yourselves against a day that shall make the children grey-headed? 17 [the Day] on which the skies shall be rent asunder, [and] His promise [of resurrection] fulfilled? 18 Verily this is an admonition; let him therefore, who will, choose a way unto his Lord. 19
