Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O you who wraps himself [in clothing], 1 Stand (to pray) all night, except a little. 2 (Worship Him) for more or less than half of the night 3 Or a little more; and recite the Quran (aloud) in a slow, (pleasant tone and) style. 4 For we shall charge thee with a word of weight. 5 surely the first part of the night is heavier in tread, more upright in speech, 6 Lo! thou hast by day a chain of business. 7 And remember the Name of thy Lord, and devote thyself unto Him very devoutly. 8 He is the Lord of the east and the west, there is no deity but Him, so take Him as your Guardian. 9 And patiently endure upon what the disbelievers say, and leave them for good. 10 Leave the prosperous disbelievers to Me and give them respite for a little while; 11 Indeed, with Us [for them] are shackles and burning fire 12 And food that chokes and a painful punishment - 13 On that day, the earth and the mountains will be violently shaken, and the mountains will be turned into heaps of moving sand. 14 We have sent an Apostle to you as a witness against you, as We had sent an apostle to the Pharaoh. 15 and Pharaoh rebelled against the apostle, whereupon We took him to task with a crushing grip. 16 If therefore you disbelieve, how will you guard yourselves against a day that shall make the children grey-headed? 17 [the Day] on which the skies shall be rent asunder, [and] His promise [of resurrection] fulfilled? 18 Verily this is a reminder. So let him who desires take the way to his Lord. 19
