Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you who wraps himself [in clothing], 1 Stand (to prayer) by night, but not all night,- 2 A half thereof, or abate a little thereof 3 Or increase thereto. And intone the Qur'an with measured intonations. 4 Verily, We shall send down to you a weighty Word (i.e. obligations, legal laws, etc.). 5 Surely the rising by night is the firmest way to tread and the best corrective of speech. 6 Lo! thou hast by day a chain of business. 7 So remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with exclusive devotion. 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West. There is no god but He. So take Him alone as your protector. 9 And bear thou patiently what they say, and forsake them graciously. 10 Leave the prosperous disbelievers to Me and give them respite for a little while; 11 Indeed We have heavy fetters and a blazing fire. 12 food that chokes and painful punishment 13 (They will come across all this) on the Day when the earth and the mountains shall tremble violently and the mountains shall crumble into heaps of scattered sand. 14 Verily, We have sent to you (O men) a Messenger (Muhammad SAW) to be a witness over you, as We did send a Messenger [Musa (Moses)] to Fir'aun (Pharaoh). 15 But Pharoah rebelled against the messenger, so We seized him with a strong, crushing grip. 16 So how will you save yourselves, if you disbelieve, on a day that will turn children old? 17 the Day whose severity shall cause the heaven to split asunder? Allah's promise is ever bound to be fulfilled. 18 Indeed this is nothing but a Good Counsel; so let him who will take a way leading to his Lord. 19
