The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 Arise and warn! 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 stay away from sins 5 And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allah's obedience as a favour to Allah). 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. its second blowing); 8 That, at that time, shall be a difficult day, 9 not an easy day for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 and children as [love's] witnesses, 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 Lo! He reflected, and determined -- 18 (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he thought; 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Over it are Nineteen. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
