The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 We shall facilitate the path to bliss 5 And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- 6 So We will very soon provide him ease. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 And denied the best matter, 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 He desires only to please his Lord, the Supreme. 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
