The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O thou enveloped! 1 Arise and warn, 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 and purify your clothing, 4 shun uncleanness; 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 It glows and burns the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
