The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O THOU [in thy solitude] enfolded! 1 Rise up and warn! 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 Purify your inner self, 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 And children present [with him] 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then he looked around, 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 Then he turned back and was proud; 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
