The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 arise and warn, 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 And uncleanness do shun, 5 do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 and sons standing before him, 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 He planned and plotted. 18 So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 19 Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! - 20 and then he looks [around for new arguments,] 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 [Hence,] I shall cause him to endure hell-fire [in the life to come]! 26 And what could make thee conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
