The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you enveloped in your cloak! 1 arise and give warning! 2 and exalt your Lord, 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 stay away from sins 5 And show not favour, seeking wordly gain! 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 that very Day shall be a day of anguish, 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 And give him vast riches, 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 May he be condemned! 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 Then looked he, 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 It strips away the hide of man. 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
