The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O thou enveloped in thy cloak, 1 Arise and warn! 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 And pollution shun. 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 and children as [love's] witnesses, 13 and to whose life I gave so wide a scope: 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
