The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 Arise and warn! 2 and exalt your Lord, 3 And your garments purify! 4 and defilement flee! 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 And for the good-will of thy Lord be thou patient. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 and who still desires more. 15 No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate. 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he looked, 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 Then he turned back and was proud; 23 Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
