The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you enveloped in your cloak! 1 Arise and warn, 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 thy robes purify 4 And uncleanness do shun, 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 not an easy day for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 and who still desires more. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 I will surely roast him in the Scorching. 26 And what do you know what Hell is? 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
