The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 arise and warn, 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 And your garments do purify, 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 But for your Lord be patient. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 and sons standing before him, 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 Lo! He reflected, and determined -- 18 (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 May he be condemned again for his schemes! He looked around, 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 This is naught else than speech of mortal man. 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], 28 It strips away the hide of man. 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
