No! By the moon 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 A warning for people -- 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except the Companions of the Right Hand. 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 about the sinners. 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 “And used to deny the Day of Justice.” 46 Till death overtook us. 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 Let anyone who seeks guidance do so. 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
