No! By the moon 32 By the receding night 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 A warning to mankind, 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 concerning the sinners, 41 “What took you into the hell?” 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 so whoever wills shall remember it. 55 But none will keep it in remembrance except as Allah wills: He is the Lord of Righteousness, and the Lord of Forgiveness. 56
