I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 And the night when it withdraweth 33 And the daybreak when it shines; 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 A warning unto humankind 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 "What has caused you to enter Hell?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 and we denied the Day of Judgement 46 Till death overtook us. 47 So, the intercession of intercessors will not avail them. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 as if they were startled asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 No! Indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
