NAY, but consider the moon! 32 And [by] the night when it departs 33 by the brightening dawn, 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 A warning to mortals, 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is mortgaged for its own deeds. 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 In Gardens they will question 40 About the guilty: 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 Till death overtook us. 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 So whosoever will may heed. 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56
