Nay, by the moon, 32 And [by] the night when it departs 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 Warn the men. 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 [Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other 40 From the guilty. 41 "What led you into Hell Fire?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 “And used to deny the Day of Justice.” 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 So the intercession of the intercessors will not benefit them. (The disbelievers will not have any intercessor.) 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 as if they were startled asses 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 So whoever wills may heed advice from it. 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
