By no means! By the moon, 32 and the night when it retreats 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 Verily, it (Hell, or their denial of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, or the Day of Resurrection) is but one of the greatest calamities. 35 A warning to mankind,- 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 Nor did we used to feed the poor. 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 “And used to deny the Day of Justice.” 46 until certainty came upon us [in death]." 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 so whoever wills shall remember it. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
