Nay! By the moon 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 hell is certainly the greatest calamity. 35 Warn the men. 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds. 38 except the people of the right hand 39 In Gardens; they shall be asking, 40 about the sinners. 41 “What took you into the hell?” 42 and they shall reply, "We were not among those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses. 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 As if they were asses taking fright 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 No, indeed, surely, this is a Reminder. 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 And they will not mind unless Allah please. He is worthy to be feared and worthy to forgive. 56
