Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 And I do call to witness the self-reproaching spirit: (Eschew Evil). 2 Does man think that We will not assemble his bones? 3 Yea! We are able to make complete his very fingertips 4 Yet man wants to deny what is ahead of him: 5 He asks, "When will be the Day of Judgment?" 6 When the eye is bewildered, 7 and the moon eclipsed, 8 and the sun and the moon are brought together 9 On that day man will cry: Whither to flee! 10 Never! There is no refuge! 11 For on that Day the refuge shall be to your Lord. 12 On that day man is told the tale of that which he hath sent before and left behind. 13 In fact man is a witness against himself, 14 Although he tender his excuses. 15 (O Prophet), do not stir your tongue hastily (to commit the Revelation to memory). 16 We Ourself shall see to its collection and recital. 17 And so when We recite it, follow its recitation attentively; 18 Then lo! upon Us (resteth) the explanation thereof. 19 Truly, you love immediate gain 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 Countenances on that Day shall be resplendent, 22 Looking at their Lord. 23 and upon that day faces shall be scowling, 24 Knowing that there will be made to befall them some great calamity. 25 But when [man's soul] reaches the throat, 26 And it will be said: "Who can cure him and save him from death?" 27 and when he thinks it is the time of departure 28 And anguish will be heaped upon anguish: 29 that will be the time to be driven to one's Lord. 30
