Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 and nay, I swear by the self-reproaching soul! 2 What, does the human think We shall never gather his bones? 3 Yes indeed; We have the power to remould even his finger-tips. 4 Yet man wants to deny what is ahead of him: 5 'When will the Day of Resurrection be' he asks, 6 but when the sight is dazed 7 And the moon is buried in darkness. 8 And the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 upon that day man shall say, 'Whither to flee?' 10 No! There is no refuge! 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat on that day. 12 On that day, people will be informed of all that they had done and all that they were supposed to do. 13 In fact, man himself is keeping an eye on his state of affairs! 14 Although he may put forth his pleas. 15 Move not thy tongue therewith that thou mayest hasten therewith. 16 Surely its collection and recitation are Our responsibility. 17 So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation. 18 And thereafter verily upon us is the expounding thereof. 19 Nay! But you love the present life, 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 Upon that day faces shall be radiant, 22 looking up to their Sustainer; 23 and some faces on that Day will be gloomy, 24 believing that a crushing calamity is about to strike them. 25 Nay, but when the life cometh up to the throat 26 And it is cried. who can charm? 27 And he (the dying person) will conclude that it was (the time) of departing (death); 28 And one shank is entangled with the other shank. 29 That Day the Drive will be (all) to thy Lord! 30
