The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Was there not a period of time when man was nothing worth mentioning? 1 Verily, We have created man from Nutfah drops of mixed semen (discharge of man and woman), in order to try him, so We made him hearer, seer. 2 We surely showed him the way that he may either be grateful or deny. 3 Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze. 4 Verily the pious shall drink of a cup whereof the admixture is like unto camphor. 5 This will be a gushing spring wherefrom Allah's servants shall drink wine, a spring from which they will take out channels wherever they wish. 6 They (are those who) fulfill (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil will be wide-spreading. 7 they give food, for the love of Him, to the needy, the orphan, the captive: 8 Saying: we feed you only for the sake of Allah; we desire not from you any recompense or thanks. 9 Indeed, We fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful." 10 So God has guarded them from the evil of that day, and has procured them radiancy and gladness, 11 and their reward for being patient will be a Garden and silk [clothing]. 12 Where they will recline on couches feeling neither heat of the sun nor intense cold. 13 And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance. 14 They will be served with silver dishes and crystal clear goblets. 15 Clear glasses [made] from silver of which they have determined the measure. 16 And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger 17 from a flowing spring called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And boys of everlasting youth will go about attending them. Looking at them you would think that they were pearls dispersed. 19 When you see them, you see bliss, and a great Kingdom. 20 Upon the inhabitants will be green garments of fine silk and brocade. And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink. 21 "Verily this is a Reward for you, and your Endeavour is accepted and recognised." 22
