The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. 1 Verily, it is We who have created man out of a drop of sperm intermingled, so that We might try him [in his later life]: and therefore We made him a being endowed with hearing and sight. 2 Verily We! We shewed him the way; then he becometh either thankful or ingrate. 3 We have prepared for unbelievers chains and collars and a blazing fire. 4 As to the Righteous, they shall drink of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Kafur,- 5 which flows from a spring from which the servants of God will drink. 6 They keep their vows and fear a day the woe of which will spread far and wide; 7 who give food, for the love of Him to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, 8 [Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude. 9 “Indeed we fear from our Lord a day which is extremely bitter, most severe.” 10 And so, God will preserve them from the woes of that Day, and will bestow on them brightness and joy, 11 and recompense them for their patience with a Garden, and robes of silk. 12 Reclining there upon couches, they shall see neither the sun nor the moon. 13 And close upon them will be the shades thereof, and low will hang the clusters thereof greatly. 14 Vessels of silver and goblets of pure crystal will be passed round among them 15 Godblets of silver, they shall have filled them to exact measure. 16 And they will be given to drink there a cup (of wine) mixed with Zanjabil (ginger, etc.), 17 [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". 18 ۞ There boys of everlasting youth shall go about attending them: when you see them, you would think that they are scattered pearls. 19 wherever you look, you will see bliss and a great kingdom: 20 On their bodies will be garments of the finest green silk and brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give them a purest draught to drink. 21 "Verily this is a Reward for you, and your Endeavour is accepted and recognised." 22
