The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Was there not a period of time when man was nothing worth mentioning? 1 Indeed We have created man from mixed semen; in order to test him – We therefore made him hearing, knowing. 2 We surely showed him the way that he may either be grateful or deny. 3 Indeed, for the unbelievers We have prepared chains, fetters and a Blazing (Fire). 4 Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kafur, 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah drink, making it gush forth abundantly, 6 The servants of God fulfill their vows and are afraid of the day in which there will be widespread terror. 7 They feed the destitute, orphans, and captives for the love of God, saying, 8 "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. 9 we fear from our Lord a Day that shall be long and distressful.” 10 So Allah will save them from the evil of that Day and has secured for them radiance and joyfulness, 11 And reward them, because they were patient, with garden and silk, 12 Reclining in it, upon thrones; they will not see the hot sunshine in it, nor the bitter cold. 13 And the shade thereof is close upon them, and the bunches of fruit thereof will hang low within their reach. 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver and goblets of crystal, 15 (Transparent as) glass, made of silver; they have measured them according to a measure. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink of a cup whereof the admixture will be ginger. 17 From a fountain therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls. 19 And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. 20 They [i.e., the virtuous] shall be attired in garments of fine green silk and rich brocade and will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure wine to drink. 21 Verily this is for you by way of recompense, and your endeavour hath been accepted. 22
