In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the winds sent forth with beneficence. 1 By the raging hurricanes, 2 by (the angels) spreading (the words of God) far and wide, 3 then winnow them thoroughly, 4 and those hurling a reminder 5 to serve as an excuse or a warning. 6 Verily that which ye are promised is about to befall. 7 Then when the stars become dim; 8 When the heaven is cleft asunder; 9 When the mountains are scattered (to the winds) as dust; 10 and the appointed time to bring the Messengers together arrives, (then shall the promised event come to pass). 11 For what day is that time fixed? 12 For the Day of Judgement. 13 And what can make you know what is the Day of Judgement? 14 Woe on that day unto the beliers 15 Did We not destroy many a nation of the earlier times? 16 and make others settle after them in their land? 17 Thus do We deal with the Mujrimun (polytheists, disbelievers, sinners, criminals, etc.)! 18 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 19 Did We not create you out of a humble fluid 20 Which We placed in a depository safe. 21 for an appointed time? 22 We determined, how excellent a Determiner are We! 23 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 24 Did We not make the earth as a gathering place 25 for the living and the dead, 26 and did We not firmly fix towering mountains on it and give you sweet water to drink? 27 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 28 [They will be told], "Proceed to that which you used to deny. 29 “Move towards the shadow of the smoke having three branches.” 30 Neither shading nor availing against the flame. 31 It will throw out sparks as logs of wood 32 sparks like to golden herds. 33 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 34 That will be a Day when they shall not speak (during some part of it), 35 nor shall they be permitted to offer excuses. 36 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 37 This is the Day of Decision, We have assembled both ye and the ancients. 38 If you have any plans, use them. 39 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 40
