50 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah) before Q (Qaaf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By (the angels) sent forth with the commands of God, 1 and then storming on with a tempest's force! 2 By the spreading winds spreading. 3 And the scattering winds scattering. 4 by those who bring down the reminder, 5 excusing or warning, 6 What is promised will surely come to pass. 7 When the stars are extinguished, 8 Heavens will rent asunder. 9 And when the mountains are made into dust and blown away. 10 and when the Messengers' time is set, 11 If one asks, "To which day have such calamitous events been postponed?" 12 To the day of decision. 13 And what knowest thou what the Day of Decision is? 14 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 15 Did We not destroy the men of old (for their evil)? 16 So shall We make later (generations) follow them. 17 Even thus shall We deal with the guilty. 18 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 19 Did We not create you from contemptible water? 20 Which We laid up in a safe abode 21 For a period (of gestation), determined (according to need)? 22 So We did measure, and We are the Best to measure (the things). 23 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 24 Have We not made the earth a housing 25 Of the living and the dead? 26 and have We not set on it proud, firm mountains, and given you sweet water to drink? 27 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 28 Depart to that which you belied! 29 Depart into the shadow of three masses, 30 "Neither shading, nor of any use against the fierce flame of the Fire." 31 Indeed, it throws sparks [as huge] as a fortress, 32 As if they were Jimalatun Sufr (yellow camels or bundles of ropes)." 33 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 34 On that day they will not be able to speak, 35 Nor will it be permitted for them to make an excuse. 36 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 37 This is the Day of Judgement. We have assembled you all together with past generations. 38 If you have any plans, use them. 39 Woe on the day unto the beliers! 40
