In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
I swear by the emissary winds, sent one after another (for men's benefit), 1 which then blow tempestuously 2 By the spreading winds spreading. 3 and the severally severing 4 and then cast (Allah's) remembrance (in people's hearts), 5 excusing or warning, 6 surely, that which you have been promised is about to fall! 7 So when the stars are extinguished, 8 and when the sky is rent asunder, 9 And when the mountains are carried away by wind. 10 and when all the apostles are called together at a time appointed... 11 For what Day are these (portents) deferred? 12 Upon the Day of Decision! 13 What will explain to you what the Day of Judgement is? 14 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 15 Did We not destroy the former peoples? 16 and then follow them with the later folk? 17 This is how We deal with the guilty. 18 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 19 Did We not create you from contemptible water? 20 We then kept it in a safe place. 21 For a known extent. 22 And We determined [it], and excellent [are We] to determine. 23 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 24 Have We not made the earth to draw together to itself, 25 The living and the dead, 26 Have We not placed high mountains upon it and filled you with sweet water? 27 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 28 (It will be said to the disbelievers): "Depart you to that which you used to deny! 29 Go to the shadow with three ramifications, 30 Neither shady nor protecting against the blazing Fire. 31 It will throw out sparks as logs of wood 32 So like golden camels." 33 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 34 This is a day wherein they speak not, 35 Nor will they be given permission to present excuses. 36 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 37 That is the Day of Judgement on which We have assembled you as well as all those who went before you. 38 and if you [think that you] have a subterfuge left, try to outwit Me!" 39 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 40
