The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the Great News 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
