The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
