The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 a fitting requital, 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
