The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
