Al-A 'araaf 14 of 24
Said the Council of the people of Pharaoh, 'Surely this man is a cunning sorcerer 109 Who wants to expel you from your land [through magic], so what do you instruct?" 110 They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers 111 Who will bring you every learned magician." 112 And the wizards came to Pharaoh, saying: Surely there will be a reward for us if we are victors. 113 He said, 'Yes, indeed; and you shall be among the near-stationed.' 114 Then they said: 'O Moses, will you [first] throw your rod, or shall we throw?' 115 Said Moses: "Throw ye (first)." So when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people, and struck terror into them: for they showed a great (feat of) magic. 116 And We revealed to Musa, saying: Cast your rod; then lo! it devoured the lies they told. 117 ۞ So the truth was proved and their works were disproved. 118 Thus they were overcome and made to look abject. 119 threw themselves down in prostration 120 And said: "We have come to believe in the Lord of all the worlds, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron.' 122 The Pharaoh said to the magicians, "You declared your belief in him (Moses) without my permission. This is a plot to throw my people out of their city. But you will soon know. 123 “I swear I will cut off your hands and your feet from alternate sides and then crucify you all.” 124 They said: Surely to our Lord shall we go back: 125 "The only reason you have to hate us is that we believed in the signs of our Lord as they came to us. O our Lord, give us sufficient endurance that we may die submitting (to You)." 126

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
